Reading the Bible is very important! God has breathed out his words in to the Bible so that we can learn who He is and what He is like.

It gives us guidance, helps us realize the sin we have in our lives, brings us to the point of asking God for forgiveness, and then it gives us hope by telling us the good news about Jesus Christ and what he has done. The whole book, even the Old Testament, centers around Jesus Christ. God wants to dwell among us and had a plan to make that possible. When Jesus died on the cross he took the sins of his children from them and took our punishment for us so that when we stand before God we are totally blameless. It is awesome when I read in the Bible about how through faith in Jesus I have been saved from God's punishment because Jesus stood in my place and took it for me. I flip to the beginning of the Bible and read about how God's people could not follow God's laws which was His way of showing his creation that they or we need a saviour. I flip to another page and it reveals that God and Jesus made this plan for God and his children to be together before they even created this Earth we live on. In the book of Acts it talks about the Holy Spirit is with us meaning that Jesus is still here helping us in spirit while he sits beside his father in Heaven. It is all in there. But I encourage you not to read only a verse or two. Read what comes before and after those verses you are learning so you understand what they are saying within the story that they were written in. If you don't know what comes before or after a particular verse, it is easy to give the verse our own meaning instead of the meaning that God has intended. Your Bible may even have some notes before the book of the Bible you have chosen to read that tells you exactly why it was written during the time it was writtien. It is important to know the reason it was written way back when and then apply it to our lives today. Even though it may seem like you are reading a history book and that God's interaction with people riding camels could not relate to our lives today.....but it does. God has given you the Bible so that you can have the guidance you need for getting to know Him, growing in wisdom of your salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, and it equips you for all the good things you will do in the name of Jesus. Just pray to God and ask him to help you understand what you are reading and don't get discouraged if you have to read something more than once. We all need too! So make time to read the Bible this week and remember.....
If you want to know God better, remember his words.
See ya later gators!
